Alissa has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa and has been working in the field since 2005. Alissa’s current practice includes working with children and adults, ages 8 through geriatric. Her prior experience includes providing therapy to children and adolescents in both school and mental health clinic settings, and providing social work in hospitals to patients with complex medical issues. While living in Colorado, she was Director of Social Services in long term care facilities, with a focus on aging and end of life issues. She has also worked as an advocate in a domestic violence shelter and has experience working with veterans with substance abuse issues. Alissa enjoys working with people of all ages to help them cope with life transitions, heal from trauma, cope with depression and anxiety, and endure grief and loss, chronic illness, and the stresses of everyday life. Alissa takes a holistic approach and utilizes humor often. In her free time, she enjoys being with her family, friends, and pets, and being in nature.
