The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for meeting mental health care needs through advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions in accordance with professional standards.

Full-time-Exempt Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

General Requirements

  • Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Iowa
  • Strong clinical background in psychiatry and the ability to work fully independently
  • Strong background in the diagnosis of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacological treatments and familiarity with non-pharmacological interventions
  • Ability to utilize electronic medical record system
  • Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team approach as well as individually
  • Strong organizational skills

Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Timely documentation utilizing electronic medical record system
  • Passionate about delivering mental health care for a diverse population
  • Orders, evaluates and interprets diagnostic tests to identify and address health care needs
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows standards of HIPAA
  • Competence in diagnosis of psychiatric disorders according to the DSM5 and psychopharmacological treatments including familiarity with non-pharmacological interventions

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (Describe mental physical demands, working conditions needed to perform job) Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time to accurately handle patient relationships and scheduling details. Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and competency in learning and using electronic medical records. Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team. Strong organizational and leadership skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize. High ethical standards and conduct. Excellent verbal and written communication when working with patients and staff. General physical tasks could be described as periodic lifting, bending twisting, walking, pushing, standing and lifting to 50 pounds. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to keep up with advancements and research in mental health treatment in a fast paced outpatient clinical setting. Full-time LPN/RN with Psychiatric Experience

Compass Clinical Associates, PLLC has an immediate opening for a full-time LPN/RN with psychiatric experience.

Qualifications

  • LPN with psychiatric experience, Associate’s degree in Nursing, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • MUST have a valid LPN or Registered Nursing license issued in the state of Iowa
  • Previous experience providing psychiatric care is preferred, but not required as we will provide training

Skills Required:

  • Function as a case manager for patients needing medication education regarding their prescriptions
  • Initiate contact with third-party payers regarding the authorization of services requiring preauthorization
  • Complete necessary documentation regarding medication and consultation for patient records
  • Administer first aid to patients at the clinic when necessary
  • Assist in the coordination of treatment between the various departments involved in each patient’s treatment
  • Assist patients who are in need of medication refills
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Provides crisis intervention consultation to all members of the team
  • Participate in group psychoeducational interventions
  • Assist psychiatrist, nurse practitioners, psychologist, TMS technicians, and therapists with patients enrolled at Compass Clinical Associates and in our state-of-the-art Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment program
