Bruce Buchanan, ACSW, LISW, BCD

Bruce Buchanan, is the President and CEO at Compass Clinical Associates (CCA). CCA is one of the largest and most comprehensive full service mental health agencies in the Iowa. He is the Past Chair of the Iowa Board of Social Work. Bruce chairs the ethics committee for NASW Iowa chapter. He is a clinical consultant for Human Services Agencies in Central Iowa, a Family Therapy consultant for the Greater Des Moines Child Abuse & Neglect Council, and a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. Bruce is a Past-President of the Association of Social Work Boards. He is also the former Clinical Chair of the Exam Committee of the Association of Social Work Boards. He continues to be a form reviewer for the ASWB exam. He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Social Work Values and Ethics.
Additionally, Bruce is a nationally sought after trainer and lecturer in the areas of child and adolescent therapies, reactive attachment disorder youth, social work ethics and residential treatment programming. Bruce was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award 1999, from the Child Abuse and Neglect Council, November 1999, the Iowa Chapter of NASW Social Worker of The Year for 2001. He was the recipient of the” Star of Excellence Children’s Service Provider ” award given by Magellan Behavioral Care of Iowa for 2008. Finally the recipient of the Margaret Hess Leadership in Family Empowerment Life Award presented to him by Youth and Sheltered Services of Ames, Iowa in 2012.
David Grove, PhD

David began his practice in the human services field as a Social Worker in 1973. He received his Ph.D. in psychology from Southern Illinois University in 1984, and completed additional graduate work at the University of Iowa in 1990. He is a licensed psychologist and a licensed health service provider in psychology in Iowa. As a graduate student, he was selected by Phi Kappa Phi as being in the top 7% of all college students across all fields of study in the United States.
Dave’s therapy approach combines biological, psychological, social, developmental, and spiritual aspects of the human experience. He is a strong believer in the healing power of laughter and humor, and incorporates them into the therapeutic process. His practice at Compass Clinical Associates includes individual and group psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy, psychological testing, and forensic psychology.
Dave serves school-age children through geriatric patients. In addition to his private practice at Compass Clinical Associates, his experience includes college teaching, working with children at a residential treatment facility, outpatient chemical dependency group work, school psychologist, Head Start consultant, directing a Community Mental Health Center, and forensic psychologist. He was awarded Diplomate by the American Board of Psychological Specialties, and is identified as an expert in Forensic Psychology.
Eric R. Barlow, MD
Dr Barlow has been practicing psychiatry in the Des Moines area since 2003. He received his medical training at the University of South Dakota and completed a residency with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Barlow is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. General adult psychiatry is his main focus, with special interest in the treatment for mood disorders, anxiety disorders and bi-polar disorder. Dr. Barlow’s personal interests include spending time with his family, basketball, music, running, reading, racquetball, and theatre.
