Alison Ekwena received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from San Diego State University in 1986. She is a licensed independent clinical social worker in Iowa and California. She has worked with individuals and families from diverse populations for over 20 years. Alison has worked as a community mental health therapist, school based therapist, foster care social worker and foster care administrator. She has experience with a wide variety of treatment issues with children, adolescents, individuals and families including trauma, abuse, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, family disruption and family communication. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with behavior problems, depression and anxiety, school related issues, adjusting to divorce and blended families, as well as foster care placement, reunification and adoption issues. She has additional training in play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and family therapy.
