Mandy Semmens has a masters of social work degree from Loyola University Chicago and has been in the field of social services since 2006. Mandy provides psychotherapy services to clients 16 years old through to old age. She has an extensive work history, working in a psychiatric inpatient facility, the Veteran’s Administration, community mental health, and most recently with a local hospital. Mandy’s belief is that each individual, family, or couple is the expert and they turn towards the clinician for guidance- (sometimes gentle and sometimes direct) to facilitate what is optimal for their particular situation. While Mandy provides therapy services to all mental health diagnoses, she specializes and has interests in anxiety trauma/ptsd, dissociation, relationship dynamics, somatic, chronic pain disorders and self actualization. While her therapy style is eclectic and integrative, one of the primary modalities in her work with clients is eye movement desensitization reprocessing(EMDR) for which she holds a national certification. EMDR is a great tool as it addresses both physical and mental aspects that a client presents. Mandy also will pair sand tray therapy if the client is interested, as this intervention is complimentary with EMDR.
